Re: Master System must haves?

Lack of love for the Master System version of Speedball 2. As a Speedball 2 nut, the only versions that are worth playing IMO is the definitive Amiga version, and the Megadrive port. (not counting the Xbox Live Arcade one, which was basically the Amiga one with some extras that didn't add much to t...

Re: What game have you COMPLETED this week

Donut County on Switch. Very short and simple indie game (inspired by the Katamari games), but reasonably charming.

Re: Today

As for that Smollet guy crying wolf, I'm not that surprised, we've become a society that incentives victimhood. He's a selfish, greedy and devious individual and tried to exploit the fact that homophobic abuse IS sadly still commonplace in our society. His self-serving gamble backfired spectacularl...

Re: Your New Retro Gamer Community Team

During a recent presentation to shareholders, the one big thing that the C-suite of the company raised as most exciting was "forums". Community is of high priority, hence all the work on platform migration and the Future Community Suite. There is no move away from forums towards social media - the ...

Re: Your New Retro Gamer Community Team

However, if there was some drive to abandon forums as a matter of policy, I can't imagine Joe and his team would have been allowed to start big jobs like the major upgrades they're involved in elsewhere. During a recent presentation to shareholders, the one big thing that the C-suite of the company...

Re: Your New Retro Gamer Community Team

so the 360 came out in 2005 does that mean in 2020 the 360 will be retro :D  that will blow some peoples minds if it does that Dear lord. As an aside, rummaging around last night, I spotted this - an old ad from Kay-Bee Toys. https://imgur.com/gallery/1FFEqa9?fbclid=IwAR3QlUEkf5wxH7aIjEIriR9...

Re: Your New Retro Gamer Community Team

That tends to be how it happens. One of the controversial GRAPES (guns, religion, abortion, politics, economics, sexuality) emerges in a forum dedicated to anything but emerges, bickering occurs, relationships fray, an exodus is triggered in the interest of preserving broader discussion and the bic...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

On the whole, I'm not that envious of the Chinese market. The graphics certainly scale well for the most part, but the pre-rendered cut scenes don't and there are all those little niggles with the framerate and controls that you wouldn't get if you just played the original game on the Wii U, even i...

A Mini-Dreamcast would be perfect.

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

Yes, you're certainly entitled to your opinion, but facts are facts and it's certainly not true that the games are unchanged or, in the vast majority of cases, the only difference to the gameplay is adaptation to the Switch's controls. Here's a brief rundown: Bayonetta 2 - Includes Bayonetta 1 (no ...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

Its lazy and cynical because its literally an unchanged port of an older game on an outdated system thats been superseded, and rightly or wrongly, some customers demand more than this. They're not "unchanged" though. All the Wii U to Switch ports have received enhancements to their graphics and gam...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

They can get away with it so do it. The fact is though that its easy money for them, and a distraction for the lack of new ideas and software on the system. All you've taken away from my points is "they do because they can"? You've still not explained why a game should cost less because of the pass...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

I don't lap it up though. I haven't bought any of the Wii U ports, yet. But just because I don't think it's worth me re-buying the ports at this point, doesn't mean I think it's unethical to charge full price for some refined ports of quality Wii U games that are still fairly comparable to new Swit...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

You've missed my point. I meant last gen games, on any of last gen's systems, were sold at what was considered 'full price', and it was accepted as fair that devs could aim to sell as many copies at full price as they could. Why would this stop being ok when the game becomes available on new hardwa...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

They were literal ROM dumps though. The ones that weren't, e.g. Twilight Princess HD and Wii Sports Club, sold at full price. Which were justifiable at that price point (or at least more so), because they were significant upgrades, not relatively straightforward ports with a tiny splattering of DLC...
