Re: From the forum: 191

Speedball II, not just for the great gameplay, but the whole vibe and chrome/metallic visuals matched that era in time.

Re: Dragon''s Lair home conversions

Well ST version was released at the same time as the Amiga. I would argue the Philips CD-i was the first proper home port, given it came out at the same time as the Mega CD version but was actually arcade perfect. The ST version came out a year after the Amiga version in 1990. I didn't realise that...

Re: Happy Birthday ATARI JAGUAR!

Not long after, reports stated that only 110,000 Falcons had been sold world wide, the majority of those in Germany. Do you evidence for these numbers please? They seem pretty high considering the Falcon was deemed a massive failure and Atari discontinued it after a year, even the Amiga 1200 only s...

Re: Dragon''s Lair home conversions

like I also remember reading, many many years ago, in Amiga Format, I think, about a CDTV version where you typed commands in (like "grab sword", I guess) rather than entered joystick directions. Apparently the action froze at the moments where you had to make a decision, giving you a certain amoun...

Re: Happy Birthday ATARI JAGUAR!

2 million pre orders in Europe alone smells of BS to me, sounds like investor BS to help share prices, something like the Gizmondo debacle with their inflated pre-orders numbers. Even Sega and Nintendo would have been more than happy with that and they were market leaders, i highly doubt until the P...

Re: games where the original was best

Wipeout - the sequels required less skill and hence had less reward factor, completing a lap without scraping the walls gave an immense buzz that was lost in the sequels, the sequels were the Burnout of racing games in comparison. Destruction Derby - again the first one was the best, the first was t...

Re: What was the first open world, real 3D, 3rd person action adventure?

It was very unique and very underrated at the time, starting to get some recognition in later years, years ahead of some similar styled games now we take for granted. As others have mentioned there are a couple of first person games Mercenary, Midwinter etc but i can't think of another 3rd person 3d...

Re: what is your biggest disappointment in gaming

I'd think the GBC was OK for what it was, and that was a stop-gap. Nintendo were in a bit of a corner after the failure of both Project Atlantis and the Virtual Boy, and the GBA hardware was a couple of years away from being ready. They had to put something out, and a tarted-up Game Boy was their o...
