Re: Retro gamer content in simpler format?
Greater expense? I can't see how, seeing there's so much less paste-up formatting going on. It would be. You're going from a simple fold/stitch or square edge mag to a perfect bound book (as per the example in the photo). MUCH more expensive and time consuming to produce. That's even assuming perfe...

Re: Retro gamer content in simpler format?
I would think about changing from printed mag to digital if the content was designed for tablets rather than A4. However, to do a great job the digital mag would need a really good app, with links to videos, etc. Yes. And that's where the current digital format as "print replica" falls down flat. I...

Re: what advice would you give to a new retro gamer
Ignore the elitists when it comes to emulation; if it works for you and you can enjoy the games, that's all that matters GOD YES. Yellowed plastic and dodgy electronics might be more "authentic," but old hardware is just an (avoidable) necessary inconvenience to get to the software. Also, you don't...

Re: iPad or tablet
Yeah think the futures very exciting. Got the latest iphone 6 and i'm amazed how well it runs San Andreas, Bioshock etc. For me having KOTOR on my phone so i can play a bit here and there at all times is great. Same for Baldurs Gate (still getting used to all the icons though!) Yes, I agree complet...

Re: Digital Distribution
Digital all the way whenever possible for me. Physical media seems so wasteful, and I hate the clutter. Old ROM cartridges that only hold 500K in a blob of plastic are the worst, nostalgia be damned. Fragile, spinning optical discs are insane as well. If I could transmute my GBA, DS, and 3DS cartrid...

Re: Great Retro-gaming websites - the sticky thread!
It's a little hateful to have all the helpful links zeroed out and replaced by the text "Edited by a mod - please do not advertise anything until you reach 50 posts," don't you think?

Re: Retro gamer content in simpler format?
Greater expense? I can't see how, seeing there's so much less paste-up formatting going on. Only a few would purchase? Likely true, I guess ...unless getting into ebook stores would help sales. Would "never happen?" That depends on the willingness of your publishers to change things up. I suppose th...

Retro gamer content in simpler format?
I've been subscribing since the beginning and love the writing in your magazine, but the magazine format can be frustrating, especially on small devices (I've quit paper whenever possible to cut down on clutter). Because the paper formative larger than even the biggest tablet, reading a full page sp...

Re: iPad Digital Mag version update
Mine was in my gmail spam folder, be sure to check there if you're expecting a voucher. I honestly forgot which back issues I am due, so this will be kind of a treat. Certainly overdue, but I'm glad it seems to be resolved.

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 128
Has the golden axe issue (#128) been pulled from the iOS app? I could have sworn it was there before.

Re: iPad Digital Mag version update
I think perhaps they made their deadline via a change on the back end -- I can see my purchases up to and including the Feb 2012 issue (Issue 100). Nothing before that, though.

Re: iPad Digital Mag version update
Not sure if getting them pulled from the store would make them care. Using the iTunes account section to "report a problem" with the past purchases will bring up a screen to request a refund, which would come out of the (current?) developer's pocket. That might send a stronger message though i doubt...

Re: iPad Digital Mag version update
It's been longer than that. We definitely deserve an update if in fact this is still being worked on. If it's not feasible to fix it technically, we should at least be offered equivalent store credit to get our stuff back. I suspect Apple won't give the new publisher the old sales data, but this rea...
