Looks cool, a bit like the canned GBC version.

Re: Retro consoles on a 4ktv

Getting one of those "classic" systems or a decently powered PC loaded with emulators is the best bet for 4K retro console gaming imo. The pre-Xbox 360 consoles were all designed to output on SD CRTs and the "super sharp" output mods are "hit and miss" since the whole point was to have a bit blurry/...

Re: Anno 1602 giveaway

So many launchers! As a PC gamer, I'm not impressed by the online distribution store fragmentation that is going on. Yeah, a free game is a free game, but when will this nonsense end? Although I have U-play installed, I barely use it and mostly stick just to GOG and Steam. Now the news that Rage 2 w...

Re: Sonic retro bundle

You can get a pretty decent gaming PC for around 500 bucks tbh: https://www.wepc.com/builds/best-gaming-pc-under-500/ You could also go for a "extreme budget" one for around 300 bucks, but in that case you have to keep in mind you'll be running demanding games on lower settings and resolution. As fo...

Re: PlayStation 3 - Retro or not?

imo, retro should be defined by graphics rather than age. You have the distinctive "Atari VCS/2600 look", "Game & Watch look", "Vectrex look", "Commodore 64 look", "ZX Spectrum look", "NES look", "PC CGA/EGA/VGA look", "Amiga OCS/ECS/AGA look", "Sega SuperScaler look", "Game Boy/GBC/GBA look", "Mega...

Re: Happy Birthday ATARI JAGUAR!

The Jag is only partially "64-bit", it's still technically 32-bit chips. Then again, even the N64 is gimped in that it's CPU, while 64-bit, is on a reduced 32-bit bus to save up costs. The "bits race" was mostly "smoke and mirrors" anyway and a poor way of advertising a system's capabilities. The bi...

Re: GODS Remastered

I must admit I never played it but it looks cool. I must also say that the original game feels somehow better, but it's still nice to see a HD remaster and compare the two. It's what I've been doing in the Monkey Island HD remakes, which included the original games and it was cool to switch back and...

Nice, it's about time this forgotten franchise gets the spotlight again. Let's hope Sega will do more of such in the future.

Re: Emuparadise Shuts Up Shop

It's not much about what is right or wrong, but as usual it's about business. Ten or a bit more years ago retrogaming was still a hobby for a bunch of nerds, but now those nerds have careers, a lot more money in the pockets than they know how to spend, and have entered the age of nostalgic feelings...

Original http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/11/out_run_is_the_next_sega_ages_title_racing_onto_the_switch_eshop Nice to see a re-release of OutRun, even though the music is remixed and the car model is changed up (understandable, they aren't gonna splash the cash for the Ferrari license). Re: Happy Birthday ATARI JAGUAR!

imo the Jag was a miss-managed product that also had some serious technical shortcommings and lacked support and market penetration. Stronger than the popular 16-bit systems but not enough to really impress, weaker than the 32/64-bit ones that followed it so it couldn't host the more advanced 3D tit...

Re: Dragon''s Lair home conversions

Funny to think what was once an unattainable graphics and sound ideal in games. The Coleco port (C=64 one was similar) was pretty solid, as was the Amiga one. The first "Arcade perfect" one was on the CD-I if I'm not mistaken.

Re: Sony announces Playstation 1 Classic

And the mini has games nobody played recently because a lot of people remember them being pish Don't really understand why you'd say that... the only pish game is 'Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six'. The other 19 titles range from good to excellent. Good mix of genres too. Rainbow Six is great on the PC tho...

Re: Sony announces Playstation 1 Classic

Loving the video ad that keeps popping up in Youtube that begins with "in the beginning there was nothing" as if PS1 was the start of gaming  Of course not, but it did make console gaming mainstream and not just "kid's business". PS1 set the template that would make the way for the likes of th...
