Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 195

It surprised me too, to be fair. I wasn't convinced stickers were a good idea when they were first suggested last year, as I also thought they weren't right for the target age group. The reception to them quickly proved me wrong.

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 195

I think it's a sample size problem - if you base everything on the reactions here, you get a distorted view of what people do and don't respond to. But less than an hour ago, we got this tweet showing someone who clearly likes them, as you can see stickers from our Konami and SNK sheets on his lapto...

Re: Turbografx Mini/PC Engine Mini

I'm really interested in seeing how this particular machine does over here. Unlike most of the plug and play retro consoles so far, it doesn't have the same organic nostalgia base due to the fact that the original console wasn't widely available. But it does have a reputation amongst enthusiasts as ...

Re: Cancel Subscription

Okay, I just had a look through the moderator logs and that all checks out! It did seem strange, and the IP address didn't resolve to your usual ISP, so I was worried that someone had gained access to your account. I've restored the original poster's name and will set everything else right now.

Yes, Iain Lee will be returning to the pages of RG in the near future. Paul's column will also continue to run in the magazine.

Re: Mega Drive Mini

I just hope they don't do what they always used to do on the Mega Games compilations, which was shoving World Cup Italia 90 (or Sega Soccer, later) in at every opportunity.

Website maintenance - May 22 2019

Hi all, just to let you know there's some planned maintenance scheduled for May 22nd, 2019. According to our engineers, the site will be going down for 10-15 minutes between 1:00am - 3:00am (UK time). If the plans change, we'll let you know.

You can't possibly own the copyright for all the games you host there. Don't do this.

Re: Has the Parodius series been covered?

We did an Ultimate Guide feature on the arcade game in issue 179, but there hasn't been a feature on the entire series yet.

Re: Paid for 'free gifts'

The £5.99 price point isn't a new policy, it's as old as the magazine is. When Retro Gamer launched in 2004, it came with a cover disc and cost £5.99. Then the price dropped to £4.99 with issue 19 late in 2005, since it didn't include a disc. (If you want to have some fun, adjust those figures for i...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 192

Yeah, that one was a joke. I kind of wanted to see if people would pick up on it.

The Super Star Wars screenshot in the news section was supposed to have a Trek-related caption, but it didn't get used so the joke wasn't quite as obvious as I'd have liked.

Re: The Google Stadia

The Digital Foundry analysis doesn't convince me that Google has solved the inherent problems of streaming - and that's before we even get into the question of whether streaming is at all desirable. The lag figures they're talking about suggest a delay of about ten frames in a 60fps game, and that's...

Re: Game series that got progressively better

Sonic the Hedgehog  I'd say the Fatal Fury series, as the progression from the original to Garou: Mark Of The Wolves is pretty remarkable. The only arguable thing is whether Fatal Fury 3 was a step back from Special - I personally like it, though. Other than that, it's a series that shows consi...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 190

We're sorry that you weren't happy with the swearing in the magazine, but we write for an adult audience. Resident Evil 2 was the cover game for this issue, and it's a notoriously gory 15-rated horror game with a heavily promoted 18-rated remake. As such, we didn't really expect anyone to give the i...
