Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 210

Hey Eric, there are potentially things that we could look at in a follow-up to Picture Perfect. What would you be interested in seeing?

Re: Screen shots of games looked better in the old days

Good news: I've submitted a feature for issue 210, which will explore the impact of legacy display technologies on the graphics of retro games. This will cover the issue of CRTs, scanlines, different cable types, and more. In this feature, you will see some photographs of games running on real hardw...

Oops, sorry - should have made it clearer, 1980s picks is the right plan

From the forum issue 208: Eighties pick'em

It's question time again, folks. This time:

You've been given the choice to keep on Eighties console, one computer, and one arcade cabinet. Which ones do you pick, and why?

Some answers will be printed in the magazine, as usual.

Re: What Happened to the article "30 Years of Amiga 500"

This thread is a duplicate of one posted three years ago or so - it's a spambot tactic, regurgitate an old topic to look legit and put a dodgy link in the signature. I'm locking this thread now, but I'll leave it in place for the time being so people are aware that this is happening.

Where can we get the digital version? I created an account at MyFavouriteMagazines but I don't see anywhere in my account where I can download a pdf.
Hopefully this information on the MFM website should help, but let us know if it doesn't.

Re: Why is Tails hated so much?

Okay, here's the deal: I'm a big Sonic fan, and probably wouldn't have had my job were it not for Sonic. I've written cover features on the games for the magazine, and Takashi Iizuka is probably the developer I've interviewed the most times in my career. And I think Tails is alright. He can be a bit...

From the Forum - Issue 207: Lockdown gaming

Hello all, hope you're staying safe. Today, we're asking a simple topical question: What retro games are you playing during lockdown? Darran's been on Doom 64 and Super Metroid (which tragically corrupted his save eight hours in!), while I've been playing SG-1000 games on my new (old) Sega Mark III....

Re: Has anyone played the Megadrive Classics collection on Switch?

I handed my Switch to a friend who hadn't seen any reviews, loaded it up and just asked him "what's wrong with this?" He responded with the correct answer after less than 30 seconds on Sonic, which I feel says a lot.

If I had to bet, I'd say 206 will be printed and distributed to wherever is still selling magazines.
I'd hate to lose you a bet, Rory, but that's not the case. Please see this thread for our current plans.

From the Forum - Issue 205: Sega vs Nintendo

https://i.imgur.com/0wmqahV.gif Right then, it's the big one - the great console war of the Nineties! You don't need me to explain this. Sega or Nintendo? Mario or Sonic? Mega Drive or SNES? No fence-sitting - just let us know which side you were on, and why it was clearly the right choice. All rep...

Re: Craziness In the retro community

I cannot comment on specifics regarding the situation under discussion, but for the record Kieren and RG parted ways following the publication of his last feature, which appeared a year ago in issue 191. He is no longer a contributor to the magazine.

From the Forum - Issue 204: The Nostalgia Effect

I feel like I'm doing fewer and fewer of these. You know the drill: we ask a question, you guys provide some answers, and some of them will be printed in the magazine based on the shadowy, opaque decision-making process we have. So the PC Engine Mini is out in a couple of months, and we're intereste...

Re: Castlevania

Those are broadly agreed to be the best ones, but there are definitely others that are worth your time if you're hankering for more! Castlevania III for the NES, Super Castlevania IV on the SNES and Castlevania: Bloodlines on the Mega Drive should all appeal if you like that one. Conveniently, these...
