Re: Paid for 'free gifts'

The £5.99 price point isn't a new policy, it's as old as the magazine is. When Retro Gamer launched in 2004, it came with a cover disc and cost £5.99. Then the price dropped to £4.99 with issue 19 late in 2005, since it didn't include a disc. (If you want to have some fun, adjust those figures for i...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 192

Yeah, that one was a joke. I kind of wanted to see if people would pick up on it.

The Super Star Wars screenshot in the news section was supposed to have a Trek-related caption, but it didn't get used so the joke wasn't quite as obvious as I'd have liked.

Re: The Google Stadia

The Digital Foundry analysis doesn't convince me that Google has solved the inherent problems of streaming - and that's before we even get into the question of whether streaming is at all desirable. The lag figures they're talking about suggest a delay of about ten frames in a 60fps game, and that's...

Re: Game series that got progressively better

Sonic the Hedgehog  I'd say the Fatal Fury series, as the progression from the original to Garou: Mark Of The Wolves is pretty remarkable. The only arguable thing is whether Fatal Fury 3 was a step back from Special - I personally like it, though. Other than that, it's a series that shows consi...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 190

We're sorry that you weren't happy with the swearing in the magazine, but we write for an adult audience. Resident Evil 2 was the cover game for this issue, and it's a notoriously gory 15-rated horror game with a heavily promoted 18-rated remake. As such, we didn't really expect anyone to give the i...

Re: Retro consoles on a 4ktv

Yeah, they're really not cheap at all. The OSSC we photographed is my one, and it cost me a lot of money - but since I live in a small flat and don't have room to keep a CRT in there, it makes more sense than buying dedicated systems/cables (and I certainly don't want to chuck all my old hardware).

Re: Your New Retro Gamer Community Team

Jpishgar after Future bought several mags they closed or merged the forums. I realise this forum/forums in general are dead and Facebook and Twitter are your main concern as they are your bread and butter so to speak. With you & your team split between several places at once, does this bode well fo...

Re: Tetris 99

My guess is that this is the first part of something bigger. The copyright screen makes reference to Nintendo characters being property of Nintendo, which is interesting because there aren't any right now. Likewise, the Stats section has "All" and "Tetris 99" tabs, but Tetris 99 is the only game mod...

Re: Tetris 99

When this was announced during the Nintendo Direct, there were messages in the RG staff group chat bidding me farewell and telling me I could troll 98 players at once. Predictably, I love it. I grabbed second place on my first go, top ten most games I play and win about 10% of the time. I have amass...

Re: PS4 on Credit?

I got my PS4 on credit at the end of 2014, and I'm glad I did it that way - but my circumstances are a bit different. In my case, the extra year with the system was very important as it made freelance for the sadly departed Play and games™ much easier, so the cost of borrowing was offset against inc...

Re: Your New Retro Gamer Community Team

Our Twitter audience is actually considerably larger than our Facebook audience. We've got about 12,000 followers on Facebook and around 43,700 on Twitter. Having just looked over the Facebook page, I'll cop to missing the single query about the forum that I was able to find, buried in the visitor p...

Re: Your New Retro Gamer Community Team

Hello everyone. We did have a forum outage last week, which was due to an unplanned technical error. I was the one communicating with readers that asked about it via Twitter. The issue was resolved by our engineers on Friday night. Unfortunately, the email to say that it had been resolved was sent t...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 190

To be honest, the movie chart has been a temporary addition due to the lack of worthwhile game charts to cover in the early part of 2002. It's a weird time since the Xbox and GameCube don't have charts yet, but the PlayStation, N64 and Dreamcast are more or less dead. That only leaves the PS2 and PC...

Any idea when this issue is going to appear on Google play
Thanks for bringing this to our attention - it didn't go up when it was supposed to due to an error, but this has now been fixed.
