Re: Which book(s) are you currently reading?

Astounded that the thread I started in 2007 is still running, 11 years later!
Currently reading Richard Ellman's classic James Joyce biography.

Re: From the forum: 188

Without any doubt, my favourite all-time PS1 game, both in terms of the hours invested, and the fun it engendered, was Rage Racer. Being a massive fan of Ridge Racer Revolution (the first game I played on the machine, which were both hired for a weekend from Blockbuster...), I avidly saved up for an...

Re: What are you currently playing?

Recently returned to Bioshock on the 360, after taking a break from it as it was the only game I had (until I recently bought Crysis 2) which suffered from any analogue stick drift. Bought a new controller, which seems fine on Bioshock, so I'm back on the mission again. The game still looks incredib...

Re: What game have you COMPLETED this week

Just completed Halo: ODST It was almost-brilliant, which I didn't think I'd be saying after the second half hour or so. Initially I was drawn in by the obvious differences from previous Halo games - not being the cybernetic behemoth that is the Master Chief, playing different roles as members of the...

Re: What are you currently playing?

At least get Deus Ex in the tray even if just to see that it works (same with Lost Planet 2 and Homefront) I'm far too OCD to get a game and not test it - the first thing I do (normally still in the shop) is check for visible scratches (since going through five sealed 2 disc sets of Terminator some...

Re: Half Life 3 - have Valve missed the bus?

There's also no real danger in updating it if you're using Resident Evil 5 as a warning. Don't be fooled by the moaning about the game you see on forums like this one. Resi 5 sold very well indeed. I've completed Resi 5, and written on various threads elsewhere about my experiences with the game. O...

Re: Copy Protection

I remember the Jet Set Willy 2 felt-tip pen 'crack'...

I also remember Elite's damned lenslok being a total and utter sod. Also Tomahawk. One afternoon the lenslok was missing, but a friend somehow managed to read the code anyway, so he's always had 'lenslok eyes' in my mind!

Re: What are you currently playing?

I completed Half Life 2 Episode 2 just now, and I'm not sure what to play next. In recent weeks I've completed Gears 1 and 2, and have 3 sitting here; completed Resident Evil 5, but 6 isn't out yet; completed Halo 3, and have ODST, Reach and CE Anniversary waiting to be played. I started Bioshock a ...

Half Life 3 - have Valve missed the bus?

I've just completed Half Life 2 Episode 2; whilst it was a cracking ride (despite the sod of a final battle), I'm left wondering if Valve have totally dropped the ball, missed the bus, and a pile of other cliches, with respect to the delay of Duke Nukem Forever proportions of Episode 3. In the five ...

Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

I have quite a backlog of stuff to play next; Sainsbury's have some cracking deals on at the moment - picked up Halo ODST and Bulletstorm for only £5 each (plus a black wireless controller for £22.99). I've been monitoring eBay for both games over the last two weeks at twice the price, minimum, so t...

Re: What game have you COMPLETED this week

Half Life 2 Episode 2, on the 360. The strider battle at the end was epic, but unfortunately overly frustrating due to the depressingly poor car controls. I don't think it's any more controllable on a PC, judging by a thread on another site for 'worst parts in Half Life' which has many, many posts n...
