Re: Which book(s) are you currently reading?

Sinclair and the "Sunrise" Technology by Ian Adamson and Richard Kennedy. Very interesting book looking at the business, rather than technological side of Sinclair especially when it came for products to sell which were what he wanted to sell rather than what the public wanted. The computers were ju...

The last time a brand new Mario was available at launch was Mario 64 wasn't it?

The DS had the same game, if that counts :)
As I said, it's been a while.

Re: Who's getting a 3DS then?

Sales will start to pick up at the time flashcarts are made available for the system as people are reluctant to spend that much on a game in the current climate. Nintendo aren't helping themselves with such a weak selection of titles from the off, certainly been a while since a Mario game wasn't ava...

Re: "Our machines were lean and efficient." - Sir Clive Sinc

The design of the QL wasn't brilliant either, relying on unreliable wafadrives for storage, a handicapped processor and couldn't decide whether it wanted to be a business or games machines and ended up being neither. Glad he said machines as if he included speakers and watches into the equation that...

Re: What are you currently playing?

Powerful Golf on the DS. Interesting power meter where you have to control its accuracy before the power circle zones out and you end up with a weaker shot. There's plenty of game modes and am currently playing through the world tour mode, great game.

Re: Retro gaming: Is the main drive nostalgia?

Nostalgia is all well and good but when I first started playing emulators in the 90s it was 'ooh, haven't played this game in years!' and realised that some games don't age well at all. A lot of the Atari VCS games spring to mind, I only played a handful of them now and it's the same on other format...

Re: Why Isn't Emulation Good Enough??

The only time when I have a good emulation session is on my handhelds as I feel that since I have so many emulators and games to go with them that I'm spoiled for choice and therefore get bored of them quickly as back in the days when you have to wait for games to load you appreciated them more and ...
