I can say that

Ys 1&2 chronicles -> +- 12 hours
Ys the oath of Felghana -> +-15 hours

For me , my favorite games on 16-bit platformer are J-RPG:

-Illusion of Gaia (from Studio Quintet)
-Terranigma (from Studio Quintet)
-Secret of Mana (from Squaresoft )
