Re: Wii soft modding help!

It's just an external Western Digital hard drive - USB powered via the Wii. Never had a problem with it.

Re: Wii soft modding help!

I've soft-modded two of my Wii's... 1. The first has a 2TB hard drive which houses most of the Wii's essential catalogue (most of which have come from my own disc collection - just a few additional downloads on titles I couldn't purchase such as 'Kirby Anniversary Collection' and 'Data East Classics...

Re: Sony announces Playstation 1 Classic

So this PS1 classic was a great idea, just poorly implemented. The emulation, whilst not as poor as some people have described, is not as good as it should have been and in the inclusion of some PAL versions at 50Hz is simply not good enough. Do I regret paying full price at launch? Absolutely. But ...

Re: Konami Anniversary Collections

Picked up the Arcade Collection the other day on PS4... the games here are well presented with some decent display options. I'd have liked an auto-fire option for the shooters and there's not that much content here for £15.99. The free e-book that comes with it is lovely, but this is exactly why I'd...

Re: Amstrad, Spectrum or C64. What is the worst and best hardware for gaming?

Amstrad CPC, hard to code for, but can do well in the right hands It's not hard to code for, the Oliver Twins for example loved to programme on it as their lead platform ('Dizzy', 'Grand Prix Sim' etc). 'Basic' is a great computer language to learn. The problem was that the Spectrum and C64 were mu...

Re: New highly impressive CPC game

I'm very excited to play this - great to see the Amstrad back in the lime light with a new arcade style game. Also keep an eye out for the new impressive looking 'Toki' conversion (I believe a port was started back in 1991 but was cancelled along with the Spectrum version)... https://youtu.be/nIKF_G...

And the mini has games nobody played recently because a lot of people remember them being pish
Don't really understand why you'd say that... the only pish game is 'Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six'. The other 19 titles range from good to excellent. Good mix of genres too.

Re: Sony announces Playstation 1 Classic

Still got my pre-order... I just collect up all these mini consoles and I think the choice of games is very good. People are complaining about no Tomb Raider, no Crash Bandicoot, no WipeOut... yes, these games are the heart of the PS1 but we've all played them very recently with the HD remakes. It m...

Re: Toki Remake - Switch

Definitely want this... but £35-£40 for a physical copy? Ouch. I know it's a 'collector's edition' but it just feels like a rip-off compared to other similar remakes/updates such as Sonic Mania (£20-£25) for example. I suppose Flashback collector's edition was £35-£40 too, but that soon came down to...

Re: Horizon Chase Turbo

Completed this on PS4 last week... a fantastic homage to the 'Lotus Trilogy' and 'Top Gear 2'. There's a great progression system and tons of depth too with career, tournaments, endurance etc. And the music! Wow - if you loved the music from Lotus you're gonna love this! Highly recommended. Fingers ...

Re: 3DS Games discussion/Collecting thread

Yep, got Luigi's Mansion yesterday. It's fantastic. The sprites have been recreated in full 3D and the sense of depth is incredible. I know 3D is just a gimmick, but here it works really well (think of how the 3D improved Kirby Planet Robobot). Another nice touch by Nintendo is that this game is cir...

Gutted! :( Been a subscriber of GamesTM since issue 2! The quality varied over the years but the retro sections and reviews were mostly excellent throughout. Never consistently bought Gamesmaster, but I've certainly been reading it on and off for the last 25 years! It looks like Edge is the only pri...

Re: What System would you like a 'Classic' console for?

My top three would be...

1. Amiga 1200 and/or CD32 (with working CD-ROM drive?)
2. Sega Saturn (definitely not the PAL version)
3. Amstrad CPC 6128 Plus (but it'll never happen)
