Re: Thinking about getting an snes, or perhaps an nes?

Buy a snes mini and hack it. Bollocks to that, get a Raspberry Pi, it can plug into a CRT Fair enough, a Pi would probably be better. Even better, get a Nintendo Wii and soft-mod it (cheap and really easy to do)... then set emulators to 240p (with no filters) and use an RGB wired scart cable throug...

Re: Screenshot challenge.

Assuming it's not a homebrew called 'Space Invaders 2: Blobs of Doom'...

From the colour palette it looks like a C64 game, perhaps time for a clue?

Re: Aladdin and Lion King being Remastered for Consoles

Seen it on the online stores go for about £16-20 for the digital version. Might be awhile before the physical version seems a similar if not lower drop. Bought my physical copy on PS4 for £25.99 on launch... while the digital version may come down in price in the future, if you want the physical I'...

Nope. I'm assuming this is the CPC version, as it isn't the C64 one I'm familiar with.
You're right it is the Amstrad CPC version. It was also released for the Spectrum and C64.

A sequel came out on the Amiga, ST and DOS.

I think that will do for clues for now...

Re: Screenshot challenge.

Almost a year late (!) but the above is the arcade game 'Grobda' released in 1984 by Namco (part of the Xevious series I believe).

Here's another for anyone who still wants to keep this excellent thread going...

Re: What game have you COMPLETED this week

Been going through my long list of unplayed games on the PS3 recently... just got Platinum on both ‘Cars 2’ and ‘Alone in the Dark Inferno’. Cars 2 is highly underrated... the handling of the cars is perfect and the licence is used well. There are some annoying shooting levels you have to drag yours...

Re: The most disappointed you've ever been in a release

'Gazza's Super Soccer' on the Amstrad CPC. Paid £14.99 for the disk version. Complete unplayable mess. Couldn't even take it back as I lost the receipt. Still gutted!

Re: Favourite Resident Evil?

My choice is Resident Evil 2. It took everything that was great about the original and expanded it to almost perfection. The recent HD remake showcases how strong a game it was in terms of atmosphere and story telling in particular.

Re: Collecting Amstrad CPC boxed games

No problem. I should have also mentioned two games with soundtrack cassettes... ‘Out Run’ and ‘Xenophobe’ (full price versions).

‘R-Type’ had some amazing artwork on the big box version too.

‘Rick Dangerous’ and ‘Sacred Armour of Antiriad’ both had a comic books inside.

Re: Collecting Amstrad CPC boxed games

Nice to see someone else favouring the under-rated Amstrad. The trouble you'll find collecting for the CPC now is the ridiculous prices found on eBay. Car boot sales/retro fairs don't seem to have much Amstrad stuff anymore either. The quality of the packaging for each game depends on... a) the regi...

Completed this week...

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep (all three character playthroughs) on PS3 (so much content for an original PSP game - great hidden gem!)
Duke Nukem: 20th Anniversary Edition on PS4 (got the platinum)

It's just an external Western Digital hard drive - USB powered via the Wii. Never had a problem with it.

Re: Wii soft modding help!

I've soft-modded two of my Wii's... 1. The first has a 2TB hard drive which houses most of the Wii's essential catalogue (most of which have come from my own disc collection - just a few additional downloads on titles I couldn't purchase such as 'Kirby Anniversary Collection' and 'Data East Classics...
