Re: From the Forum - Issue 205: Sega vs Nintendo

Nintendo, both because NO ONE had Sega (except that rich kid who had both), but mostly because the games were so much better. Mario was fun, Sonic was kinda boring.

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 203

Speaking of Matthew Smith, it's eerie how much he looks like me at the same age. I have pics of me at the same age home at my mum's that is virtually indistinguishable. My digital images have not the same picture, but look at him here: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/I1cSO7pTHnM/maxresdefault.jpg And then lo...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 203

Indeed, I feel Matthew Smith and Manic Miner has been done to death now. But I love Mario, and welcome more if there is something new to it.

Re: From The Forum Issue 203

The first time I was shown the hidden exit in world one in SMB3, sending me to my untimely doom in a much later and for me unbeatable world. It was magic.

Re: JSW guided tour (issue 201)

By all means, I don't expect the mag to be written for me exclusively. :) It is a testament to the mag that I read probably 99% from start to finish despite not having personal experience with much of it. It helps being a historian I guess. ;) But I did read perhaps half of the article, that in itse...

It's good you guys like the article. For me, it was the first article in ages I did not read from start to end.

I've just got to the 2000s in the mag now, really a magnificent issue. :)

Re: From The Forum Issue 201

Well, it might not be the objectively best handheld game in any way, but there was no GB game I owned as a kid that game me as much fun and Boxxle and Turrican. I choose the latter due to the music.

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 198

I have subbed digitally for years now. It suits me fine. And since the paper version in stores here in Norway cost extremely much (last time I checked the price was around 14 GBP for a single issue) and digital sub on my ipad is so cheap (22.50 GBP for six months), it's an easy choice.

For me, I cannot be any other game than Commander Keen 4. That game or Super Mario Bros. 3 was my first ever videogame, both came to my attention at the same time - around age four. I still play it yearly to this day. It's just so good!

Re: Magazine cop out !!!

Retro Gamer is one of the densest magazines out there in terms of words per page. I don't think a few nice 2 page spreads showing off a console and breaking up the articles is really a bad thing, and I quite enjoy them. Having recently bought some of the earliest issues though, the word density hav...

Re: From The Forum 182: What's your favourite Mega Drive game

Since more or less no one had a Sega console in Norway ever, it was completely a Nintendo place until PlayStation came along, I can't say I've played much MD... I think perhaps the only one might be one of the Sonic games and some scrolling fighter the one time I was visiting that rich relative that...

Re: Retro Gamer issue 181

Ah, Street Fighter... :D I have a small story for that: Back in the early 90s, I inherited a NES and had some friends with NES and SNES. No one had Sega in Norway really, and PlayStation was far away. I was young (born in 1986), and played this game which I loved that I was sure was called Street Fi...

Re: Retro Gamer issue 180

With this one subscribers are getting an exclusive cover! And it looks awesome in my opinion :o How will non-exclusive cover look? And as usual we digital subscribers (I've been subbing digitally since 2009 or so I think :o ) are treated stepmotherly I guess. Only the regular front, no extras of an...

CD? How will that work for us digital subscribers?
the cd is only available to physical subscribers.
That is a real disappointment. :(
