Re: What Are Your Favourite C64 Games?

Sorry if I've missed them in the thread but has anyone mentioned the great C64 flight sims Microprose used to make?

C64 version of Gunship was possibly the best helicopter game ever. Was 'gamey' enough to be worth a mention I think. As is F19 stealth fighter.

Re: GODS Remastered

The Amiga version was the best IMO and it was a brilliant game.

I saw this in the XB1 store and got very excit d. Then I saw the graphics for the remake... God it looks awful!

Waiting for reviews etc before I commit now.

Thanks for that mate. Really good review. I'm buying it this evening. That Amiga option has pushed me pushed the edge. :)

Re: Saboteur on Nintendo Switch

Need to double check the save points thing. Might be wrong there.

And I agree. But expensive. :)

Re: Saboteur on Nintendo Switch

Just watched the trailer, it looks like it is just the Spectrum game. Is it that or a remake? Because as great a game as it is, £6.30 seems like a lot of money for a digital version of a 35 year old Spectrum game. :? Visually it looks like it's running on an emulator. My impression is that it plays...

Saboteur on Nintendo Switch

Saboteur was one of my favourite Speccy games. I absolutely loved it -one of my 'go to' games whenever I fire up Speccy emulators. It seems to have been a very low key release - I just happened to have seen it whilst browsing the 'new releases' last night.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8I6H-TU9ml...

Re: Frank Bruno's Boxing

Rocco (originally Rocky, but retitled sue to copyright iasuea) is an interesting one. Not the same variety of fighters, but they so show physical damage through the fight. Rocky was a brilliant boxing game. Too shallow for today but at the time it was SO good. I still have my copy at home. Somehow ...

Re: What was the first open world, real 3D, 3rd person action adventure?

I figured this thread had run its course until this morning I was watching a Speccy video and a game came up that I thought seemed relevant - I of the Mask. It seems to fit the criteria: 3D smooth rotating world, default 3rd person camera. And to add a sprinkle of magic, it was coded by Sandy White ...

Pretty incredible thing to do... https://kotaku.com/hackers-say-nintendo-switch-has-a-game-that-unlocks-on-1818587767 Looking down the comments, some other reports say that it is also a Japanese charm thing - whereby the spirit of Iwata is looking over every Switch helping to make the console a succ...

Re: What was the first open world, real 3D, 3rd person action adventure?

Thanks for the clarification guys.

So we're back to Hunter on the Amiga as possibly the first true 3D 3rd person action adventure game.

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

Is it me or have Bethesda missed a trick with the Switch version of Skyrim? They should have added a total 3rd person solution to the game. I've played Skyrim on PS3 and enjoyed it but I'm not sure I'll pay to play it on Switch. Had they made it into a 3rd person game, I think I would have been sway...

Re: James Bond Games

Having thought about it, I think the issue all Bond games face is the nature of the character. Bond's time in the films is more-or-less equally divided between being a detective, following clues and solving puzzles, and being an action hero who gets into fist fights, shootouts and car chases. While...

Re: What was the first open world, real 3D, 3rd person action adventure?

I still don't get why Ant Attack isn't 3d though. Yeah the likes of Knight Lore, Sweevos World etc were isometric, but AA was able to view objects from different angles, all the objects and people had 4 sides to them. What's the difference between Hunter and AA? Ok, so that's a good question and I ...
