Re: Sine mora
It has flaws, and I don't think I'd care to go for a 1CC or play for score, but it's fun to stick autofire on and blast through the story.

Re: Features you loved that were removed from sequels
I really liked the first Mass Effect's weapon overheating system. It was a nice little touch that gave the shooting a futuristic feel and although it didn't change things fundamentally it worked particularly well with the weapon mods which whose effects made sense in the game world. It was just so c...

Re: 'random niceness' thread
Those of you who complain that the thread is flooded with half halfhearted offerings should consider what the cause of the problem might be before imposing more rules as a solution. What is the cause of the problem then? I do see your point but you are missing mine. I'm not talking about altering t...

Re: 'random niceness' thread
I think this is a great thread but I always thought of this thread a niceness thread, remember? It's for people who want to be nice and give something away without receiving anything in return. In that I don't see that it's necessary to have a rule that someone replaces something that they take - or...

Re: The Castlevania series.
I liked SotN but coming to it after having played several other Metroidvanias it didn't have the full impact it should have. The sense of scale is something unrivaled in the others but the balance is a bit wonky. I suppose I should replay it under some special conditions, even if they have to be sel...

Re: What game have you COMPLETED this week
Bastion Fun game. Will be seeing what's what with NG+ and score attack before I move on. Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness (N64) Are the N64 Castlevanias worth sticking with? I did try a bit of LoD on an emulator but I haven't really got into it. As an aside I'm going to mention that I think that the ...

Re: Misunderstood gems
Nah Other M is no gem. The thing is that even if you ignore the story the gameplay isn't great. Nothing of the intricacy or atmosphere of the 2D games. Pretty mediocre and hardly par for a series that typically exhibits genuinely excellent design.

Re: Elser Scrolls Online Subscription Based
MMORPGs are a dubious prospect at the best of times and while as a fan of Euler Scrolls I saw potential this is a deal breaker. Hopefully it will go F2P and by then we'll know more about it. I hope it draws more from its own series than other online games.

Re: 50hz is horrible.
Yeah! To hell with it 50hz. I hate playing games at a slow speed, it makes me feel like I'm not getting the proper experience. With shmups I find it makes things easier, but then your scores/1CCs aren't the achievements they should be. Put me right off playing the PAL version of Shienryu because I d...

Re: Strider. Who's looking forward to it
The gameplay reveal worried me to be honest. It looks kind of sloppy with the player taking a huge number of hits but just regenerating most of it. This combined with track record of the developer make me think it's going to be another case of a classic IP outsourced to westerners inexperienced with...

Re: Humble Origin Bundle!!!
This is a ploy to get people in bed with Origin and it may well work on me. At the moment I've decided to take the steam keys and run but some of those origin only games might get a look one day. Still it's an amazing deal. Furthermore in an entirely out of character move they are forfeiting their e...

Re: Skyrim
Ooh Legendary difficulty, forgot they added that since I last played. Are there any other changes apart from enemies doing more damage?
For me the entire game on master difficulty was become ethereal, walk up to any enemy, two handed power attack and the rest just sorts itself out.

Re: Elder Scrolls Anthology
It would be nice to have Oblivion and Skyrim on the PC and with extra DLC. But I already own all these games in one form or another so £50 is too much. I mean, I could get the ones I'm missing for <£30. The first two are free to download remember.

Baldur's Gate
Was one of the first games I ever played but it was so much fun to start the game again and play as a new character that I never finished it. Well it's taken me over a decade but I've finally seen it through

Re: Indie Gala Summertide
Just so you know the three eXceeds are all their own games, not just add-ons. Which is lucky because the first one is a bit naff. I've been enjoying the third one, though. Definitely worth <£4.50.
