Re: Conversion Capers feels lazy
Hey I think the CPC version of Hard Drivin is pretty good. I didn't call it 'unplayable' or summarise that it was a 'complete write-off'. Here's what I wrote: "Oh dear. Besides a nice Mode 1 dashboard, this is a hasty port of the Spectrum version (the monochrome graphics and smaller screen size are ...

Re: Retro Gamer issue 146 feedback thread
I'd also like to know what happened to his last Speccy game, Masterspy. Since it was complete, it would be nice to have a go, but there's no mention of it on World of Spectrum, even as an MIA game. Is it lost forever, did Albert say anything about that? Masterspy is in the main WoS archive. http://...

Re: Batty and Ultimate connection
It is a confusing one this. I did interview Jason Benham about Batty, and most of that ended up as a Q&A in the Covertape Wars feature (issue 97). Essentially Jason wrote an untitled Arkanoid clone for the C64 (the main difference being the addition of a 2-player mode). Elite picked it up. The Ultim...

Re: From the forum issue 137 - Favourite Playstation game
The original Resident Evil. It may seem slow and clunky now, but I came straight to it from the Amiga, where I'd been playing stuff like Cruise for a Corpse, and it was just so slick and cinematic, with great set-pieces - dogs through the window (of course), the giant snake, those awful spiders, the...

Revival 2014 Event Feedback: did you go, what did you think?
It's just over a month since Revival 2014 took place in Wolverhampton.
There will be a write-up in the next issue (#134) and we'd like to feature some comments from those who attended.
So how did you find this year's event? Let us know below!

You can use a poke to unlock every door and see the final room and end screen. You just can't do it without 'cheating'.HalcyonDaze00 wrote:just read the excellent Fairlight piece, there is a pic that shows the screen with the bug that stopped the game being finished and then the next pic is of the end screen?

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 126
It's ridiculous that a small comment about not really liking the Knight Lore article has led to having to essentially explain myself to the author of said article. I've bought the magazine since Issue 1, and surely have earned the right to say I don't really like something in the magazine. I didn't...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 126
I don't think I've ever defended anything I've written on here before. I don't think I've needed to if I'm honest. But this feedback has made me go back and check the commission from Darran, re-read the article more than once, and try and work out if I've messed up! The idea of the article was to lo...

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 122 Official feedback
Read the JSW retirement home article - loved it :D But I am surprised that no speccy addicts have been here throwing bricks at Martyn for not including ANY screenshots from the original Speccy version  And that Dragon version seems to have a shed load of extra rooms  Unfortunately a bit...

I believe Retro Gamer will be 10 years old on January 15, 2014.

For the love of God, do not buy any of those Retro Gamer game collections.
It was a regrettable Live Publishing 'business decision'. I can't believe they're still floating about.

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 114 Feedback
Sorry to crash this PC chat, but regarding Dragon's Lair. I didn't ask the Gary Goldman about the game's polarising nature because the article was more about charting - and celebrating - the game's 30 year history. Regardless, Gary did mention this aspect, saying: "It's not a great game, it's a memo...

Re: Garbage Pail Kids
Just got hold of the book mentioned in the first post. Really nice - well worth £8. A nice bonus for UK GPK collectors is that it's the US cards that are shown. In the UK, from series 3 onwards, they messed things up by selecting cards from multiple US series (I guess so that there were more origina...
