Re: OnLive UK
I didn`t start this (uncalled for) angle and when "jackasses" start appearing I will answer in similar mood. Your statement was idiotic and this is the reason it was called "dumb" and ridiculed. To suggest that PC gaming owes something to current console gen is as stupid as, for example, PC crowd st...

Re: OnLive UK
It's not "liking to play the games in the highest possible quality". It's the "YOU DON'T LIKE THIS GAME? WELL HURR HURR YOU ONLY PLAYED IT AT 720P SO YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT DURRRRRR!" that pisses me off. That might be annoying, sure. Probably as much as "HERP blah blah blah PC S...

Re: Alternative Software
Looking at their release list it`s only Combat Lynx that I remember fondly. And on closer inspection, it was of course made by Durell (tha GReAteSt!) anyway.
Amusingly, they`re still going on...respect.

Re: my eyes ! ( n64 )
That may be true for "proper" retro. But I`d also use it for PS2/Gamecube/DVDs. Would 4:3 games got stretched or sort of letterboxed on a widescreen?

Re: my eyes ! ( n64 )
For those who want more in-depth analysis, here's a good link: http://www.benpekarek.com/video_games_in_an_era_of_high_definition.html Top read, this. But all in all, his final advice is: "The best solution to avoiding these problems? Keep your SDTV or PC CRT Monitor" ;) Which is what I`m gonna buy...

Re: OnLive UK
Wow, now that`s some true flame material up there Freestyler, complete with "jackasses" and all that. Since I`ve been called a PC Snob before (regardless of the fact that I also owned/loved most of the consoles) I guess I should bite . But then, it`s a nice Sat afternoon so maybe just... poke . Firs...

Re: The PSP collecting thread
Sure, so Sony`s releasing a new model (E1000) just so they might keep up with the zombie craze, eh? There never really were that many big Western "exclusives" on it anyway, mostly PS2/3 ports. This year, of course it`s fading, what with Vita around the corner, but even now you`ve got your Fifa/Pes/L...

Re: The PSP collecting thread
Nah guys, haven`t you heard that PSP has been dead for years?
Hehe, just like PC gaming.
In other news they`re about to release some PSP-lite (no WIFI but cheaper) and also Fighting Force is on PSN now.
(Fate & GKH FTW! Now if only that new Suikoden got localized too...)

Re: OnLive UK
So is it actually 7 quid per month per few games? I can see that catching on - when they started few years back it was insane: you actually had to buy the game and then still pay some monthly fee. Still, degraded quality and lag is just that - degraded. I`m not sure I approve of new generation being...

Re: Beat em Ups / Brawlers
Ahh...brawlers: one of my all time favourite genres. Renegade on ZX Spectrum was probably a first next-gen experience for me ever ;) Forgot the name, but there was a couple on Dreamcast I liked and I thought pretty obscure- one with zombies I think? Also heard of something called Kenka Bancho Badass...

Re: my eyes ! ( n64 )
Hmm...I was just about start a thread regarding SD Tv`s - I`m about to buy one. Partially because PS2 on my Sony LCD looked like *&^%. Few questions: 1) Widescreen - is it that important for old-gen? I know that few games on PS2 use it, what about Gamecube or Xbox or if I eventually use it for emu.....

Re: OnLive UK
Yeah YouTube today - where more often than not I`m not allowed to watch something coz I`m in the wrong country or have sign in with some stupid Google thingy. Plus what Antiriad says...I`m on mobile "broadband" now, but few months back was on some standard ~8 MB connection and still couldn`t watch a...

Re: USB control pads...
I have wired 360 pad but don`t think much of its D-pad. Might have look at the ones mentioned above. Any other recommendations from maybe 10-30 quid price range?

Re: OnLive UK
The games won`t be "cutting edge" - they will be filtered through the unavoidable technical hooplas. So lag, blur, etc - sort of youtube of videogaming. Personally I hate the concept (and anything "Cloud" related), but can understand when someone with, say a laptop has a need to play Battlefield 3. ...
