Thanks, that demake of Virtua Racing is really impressive: You can play https://freds72.itch.io/virtua-racing. It even lets you change cockpit-view. This is truly state-of-the-art programming.

Which Retro Game would you like to see remade?

Many games of yesteryear are getting a remake on modern consoles, often with sharper textures and better controls. The list is endless: Crash Bandicoot , Command & Conquerer , Shadow of the Colossus , et cetera. THE game I am waiting for getting a remake is Shiny Software's 1997 MDK (https://www.you...

Re: Retro gaming ads

I love those old early Eighties-ads for games. Often they are handcrafted paintings. A good source are early C&VG magazines. See for example http://amr.abime.net/issue_2996_pages

Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

I have bought a virtual console this week: Pico 8. I will try to program a basic platformer game in it - the code seems straightforward enough. By the way, it is amazing what types of games have been programmed in this little console. I am most impressed with the Sonic-demake (https://www.lexaloffle...

I'll go for the PS5 once it has new Playstation VR hardware available for it.

Netherlands: Arms of Mary - Sutherland Brothers & Quiver
US: Kiss and goodbye - The Manhattans
UK: Don't go breaking my heart - Elton John & Kiki Dee

Very interesting. Never heard about the no.1 songs in The Netherlands & US.

Re: High Score show - Netflix

Whazeebo, LBGTQ+ people play games. And those LBGTQ+ people contributed to the history of gaming. Any agenda that misses out or censors their part in gaming history is worse, they deserved to be part of the documentary. Yes, of course they contributed to the gaming industry like thousands of others...

Re: Tracking lateness

I just give up. Haven't received issues 206, 207, 208 and 210 and can't be bothered anymore to contact Future about this.
Unfortunately my subscription ends in 2021. Must find a way to charge my money back.

Re: High Score show - Netflix

I am four episodes in and I really hate this documentary series. It is supposed to tell something about videogame history but focuses heavily on the American market (Sega, Nintendo), completely ignoring homecomputers like C64 and ZX Spectrum. Often it has interesting interviews with developers (Ken ...

Re: Help me find the game name

Another Heli/tank-game I remember is Return Fire. Originally released for the 3DO by Electronic Arts, it received a 1996 update for Windows 95. I remember I got it from a warez-CD.

A rotating overhead-shooter featuring a helicopter? Seek and Destroy is the first game I can think of. It first appeared on Amiga early '94 and was later converted to DOS. You can find some information here: http://hol.abime.net/1862/conversionshot

Re: IMPORTANT - COVID-19 update

So far I have read issues 206, 207 and 208 in digital form. They will be bundled and sent hopefully anytime soon. However, at least every week I receive spam to extend my subscription or buy some extra issues. Sorry, but I get a deja-vu of a similar experience I had when I subscribed to a Belgian Cy...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 206

I read the digital edition of issue 206 while I await the printed edition to arrive at my house after lockdown. The Impact of Half-Life : Must still read the article. Looks promising. The making of Grand Prix Simulator : Nothing special. Liked the article about Ant Attack and its sequels how they we...

Re: From the Forum - Issue 207: Lockdown gaming

I am playing Krisalis' Legends - a game that appeared in the Amiga's twilight years. The lockdown means I finally could spend time trying to get it to run in Amiga emulator WinUAE, something I previously did not have the time for. The configuration that did the trick for the game is an A1200 AGA-chi...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 205

Great issue this month as it features many games I played on the original machines back in the days. I especially appreciate this month's C64 Minority Report for featuring Aigina's Prophecy . I have been searching for this title for years! Originally I played the game when I was tinkering with C64 e...
