Re: From the forum: 191

Not a great fan of their games, I find them generally a bit overrated. The two Speedball games are the only ones I really like, with Speedball 2 topping them all. "Replay! Geeeet Reaaady!"

Re: From the forum: 188

Final Fantasy IX gets my vote. Gorgeous, underrated gem with lovable characters and lots of enjoyable side quests. It was released late in the life of the PS1, when all eyes were on the PS2, but it's one of my favourite RPGs of all time. Fantastic game. Hard choice though, the PS1 had tons of incre...

Re: Your favourite Ben Daglish music

Deflektor is my favourite among his own, with a great melody and its bouncy-Daglishly feeling.

Cobra is probably my favourite of them all, a fantastic version of the movie music (pretty much the only good thing about the C64 version).

Re: Change one thing?

A slighly richer colour palette on the C64, and two more sound channels on the Amiga. That's about it :)

Re: Questions for Matt Gray

First of all, the Reformation album is fantastic and I can't wait for R2 to come out.

- Which revision of the SID chip do you like more / sounds better in your opinion?
- Which other SID composers did you manage to meet / trade SID tricks with over the years?

Re: From The Forum issue 180 - Favourite Bitmap Brothers Game

Not a great fan of their games, I find them generally quite overrated (especially Xenon 2 and Gods). The only ones I really like are the two SpeedBall games, with SpeedBall 2 being my choice. Awesome, fast-paced game with a touch of strategy. Amiga version, of course.

Re: My year of PS2

If you like strategy RPGs, definitely look for Ring of Red. A bit like Front Mission, a bit Xenogears, but some great features added to the mix.

Re: Paul Woakes tribute

Although I was familiar with and impressed by both Encounter and Mercenary, I'd have to say that his finest hour was Damocles. It was simply breathtaking to have an entire solar system to play in at the time, with lots of big cities on most of the planets and a few tucked away little secrets elsewh...

Re: Bob Wakelin tribute

It's been a very sad piece of news for me. I love Bob's work, his artwork has been the main reason that made me start my Hit Squad collection, and his Parallax poster is, and always will be, beside my retro computer corner, so I can look at it while the C64 loads a game or the Amiga does its magic. ...

Re: From The Forum issue 176 - Favourite football game

Emlyn Hughes International Soccer. With its endless set of options and moves, editable teams, free kicks, penalties... in 1987 it was light years ahead of all the previous football games and is still better than most that have been released after.
