For atmosphere I don't think theres a lot out there that can beat Aliens V. Predator on the Jaguar, that game gave me first 'jump' moment.

So its not the smoothest of plays these days but the ambiance is still there.

I was absolutely astounded at the conversions of Sonic 1 & 2 on the master system, especially sonic 2. An astounding feet on programming on an 8 bit system , both games play as well as their megadrive counterparts. Re:

By the time the Speccy and C64 were around I had to buy myself that sort of stuff so my childhood Xmas memories were all about Flight Deck, Stylophones, and Major Matt Mason! Bally hell I had a flight deck and had forgotten all about it until I just saw that , what a beast of a machine took about 3...

I definately don't think you 'had' to have been there in the first place but I do agree with other posters in that it will mean differnt things to different generations , even different people within a generation. One of my strongest gaming memoires is going into the school youth hut and hearing (we...

I agree that infocom adventures were pretty special, HHG2G being very much in keeping with its inspiration (mad as tho some of the flaming problems) but for me the kings of early text adventures were level 9. I have such memories of playing them as an early teen, Snowball being my favourite text adv...
