Re: Controversial magazine Reviews/Scores
I thought at times Edge magazine got a bit silly both ways- excessive 10/10 scores or poor scores for games that are obviously terrific. I must admit a have less of a problem with a '10/10' - As usually the games that got that were undeniably good. It's the ones that they seemed to be intentionally...

Re: VGA Grading : Ever had it done or considered it?
How can one be an authority with no accreditation? It's the fundamental given of any authority, and the lack of which is beyond all logic, but this VGA business seems to operate comfortably without it. What exactly are the qualifications at play here? How are these folk entitled to gauge the worth o...

I never even owned anything Sonic, 'til last year with Adventure, then Generations and then Adventure 2, but yeah, I never played through anything from Sonic's heyday 'til just a while ago, when I whizzed through the first three on the MD. This is made all the worse by the fact I had a Megadrive as ...

Cheers for the feedback, lads. I'll nab it for the pittance it demands, as a curio, if nothing else.

Re: Utterly Pointless games
I'd nominate the Animal Crossing series as one, but its pointlessness is its point, pretty much. There's the loans the keep you working toward something, but the actual gameplay is just living in a village with a couple of lecherous, anthropomorphic creatures. Well, its lecherousness may be open to ...

What's the RG consensus on the Wii-sequel? It's not worth a new thread.

Re: Super Nintendo collecting thread.
As much as this is not the best version of the game I had to get it back as I had it before. http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t485/volkte37/Gaming/P1010743.jpg Is it just me, or are Akuma's boobs popping out here? No, it's his prayer bead necklace. Awesome, awesome cover for a game though. I've ...

Re: Post Your Interesting Gaming Facts
the very first time a game character was seen urinating was in Clocktower, a point and click adventure from 1997 on the PS1. Which is actually Clocktower 2, as the first one was a SNES title never released outside of Japan, so they dubbed CT2 Clocktower as Sunsoft felt there'd be no way that'd ever...

Fist of North Star (NES) Some guru decided to port the second, less well-received, less playable game in the series. Pretty dull, level-design is splat and you can walk for yonks and not find an enemy. The End (Browser) Cool game. Bog-standard platformer, strengthened by some cool philosophical twin...

I can't begin to count the number of times I've had to crack my Dreamcast open to push back and clean the pins, for RRS-related reasons, obviously.

Re: Games that pushed a system to the limit
I suppose Alpha 2 on the SNES has been mentioned? It's easy to see it's doing things the SNES can't, considering it's a SNES game that has loading-pauses. Still manages to be a decent-port too, surprisingly.

My wife used to test games for one of the bigger publishers out there, and as a consequence, made me sit through the credits of a game, out of respect for her job.

Re: DreamCast
As mentioned above a little, I think it must've been somewhat sickening for the suits at Sega, to see that the gaming masses were passing up a next-gen console with a drove of titles, in favour of an unproven, unreleased PS2 that'd have little in the way of killer-apps for over year after release. I...
